Happy Birthday Savannah and Micah

May 26th at 4:18 and 4:20 a.m. our 2 little bundles of joy were born into this world. I was once told that every coincidence in life is really a small miracle. The birth of our two babies was a lot of small miracles placed together making one huge miracle. I thank the Lord for watching over me and our precious little children of God.

Miracle # 1 My Mother was in town to attend my baby shower and then go to a church history conference. She kept me company while I was on bed rest. Then on Tuesday night when I started having contraction, she knew they were real. She told Leif that I had to go to the hospital, and was there to help me breath through each contraction.

Miracle # 2 My Father flew into town at 12:15 P.M. Leif went to pick him up as I was given anti contraction shots along with steroids to help my babies lungs. When Dad and Leif got back, I was dilated to a 4 and 100% effaced. My Dad is an OB and was able to to explain what was going on and give me advice about c-sections.

Miracle # 3 By 3:30 a.m my contractions had not stopped and I was then dilated to an 8. I was therefore wheeled into the O.R. room and given a spinal. My toes, legs, and belly went numb then the doctor cut. Miracle # 3 happened when at 4:18 a.m. we heard a cry and Baby A was breathing.

Miracle # 4 Two minutes later Baby B was crying meaning that he was breathing too. I got to see both babies, kiss their little faces, and the watch them leave with the nurses.

Miracle # 5 My husband and parents got to go upstairs to the NICU and visit the little twins. Both babies needed a little oxagen, and IV's put in for feeding. Yet. our sweet Savannah and Micah had no physical or mental delays. They were perfect. They were small. They were doing exactly what a 32 week old baby should be doing.

Miracle # 6 Leif's Doctor for May went on vacation so Leif was able to stay with me for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. In June he is doing an OB rotation at North Kansas City Hospital which is the same hospital that our babies are at. He will therefore get to visit our little ones every day after his work.

Mother's Day

Today I woke up with a kiss from my husband and him saying, Happy Mother's Day. I turned over to face him and felt both our babies lively kicking away. I believe both babies were telling me Happy Mother's Day. Each morning I rub by belly and tell our babies good morning. But, today they were very active. It is the best feeling in the world to feel them moving. I can't wait to hold each one of them and love them.

Last Mother's Day was a very hard day for me. It was hard hearing talk after talk about Mothers and children when we were barren. It was difficult see young mothers with their beautiful children when we had just lost ours. Mother's Day in the past have been a reminder of what I don't have. But this year was so much different. I have 2 wonderful babies growing inside me and coming to be in our family in a month. I have a wonderful husband who loves me, understands me, cares for me, and treats me so sweetly. I have an amazing mother who has always been there for me and who is so selfless. I have the knowledge of the plan of salvation and know that I will see my little son again.

Lastly, I have the best mother ever. She is so wonderful for many different reasons. I love my dear mother, and thank her for sacrificing so much to raise me. I love my mother for so many different reasons......

My mother is selfless. She will always drop what she is doing to help me or anyone in need.
My mother is so spiritual. She reads her scriptures daily, prays, and is a great example to me.
My mother is serviceable. She will go out of her way to help others in need and knows when someone needs a hand.
My mother is lovable. She sees the good in everyone and loves everyone unconditionally.
My mother is patience. She never gets upset or frustrated in situations where I would.
My mother is youthful. It is so much fun spending time with her because she is up for any adventure or activity.
My mother is kind. She carries her heart on her shoulder and has a smile to give every passing stranger.
My mother is a great shopper. She can find the best deals along with the best coupons.
My mother is beautiful. She takes great care of herself and I take it as a compliment when people say we look alike.
My mother is the best mother in the world. I hope that I can raise my children as well as she raised me.

Happy Mother's Day Mother, I love you.

My Birthday Weekend

My Birthday was on Monday, but Leif and I celebrated Saturday night. Our friends told us about this resturant down at Liberty Square called "Six". And it really was an awesome place. First off Liberty Square is such a fun place; there is a court house in the middle of the square with shops and resturants all around it. When we first walked into the resturant live music filled the air. The singer was a young man on his guitar playing a different aray of songs. Each table had a lit candle with a long black table-cloth. Our server was very friendly and made 2 great recommendations. Leif had stake and I had capper chicken. Our meal did take a while to come out, but that only lead to more sweet conversation with my honey. We had a great time talking to eachother and playing the question game.

After dinner, we stopped by the grocery store and bought ice-cream cones. Then we ate them on the couch and ended our date. Thanks Leif for being so sweet to me on my special day. I love you.
